About
I’m Jen, a film critic and writer with a lifelong love of cinema and television, and the creator of Just Jen’s Reviews.
My writing spans film criticism, screenwriting, essays, and long-form features, with work appearing across publications and platforms including The New Black Film Collective, Live For Films, and Black Ballad. I am also the author of In the Scene: Steve McQueen and a contributor to the anthology, Encounters with Jane Austen, exploring the evolution of Jane Austen’s work on screen. Check out my writing portfolio for more examples of my work.
Alongside my writing, I have covered film festivals including the BFI London Film Festival, and run The Pilot Principle, a podcast dedicated to reviewing television pilots.
Here you’ll find film and television reviews spanning the latest releases, classic films, rewatches, independent and international cinema, alongside features, lists, and festival coverage. Whether you’re looking for your next film to watch, exploring something from the archive or simply want to discover a new perspective on a familiar favourite, there’s plenty to discover, with more than 500 posts to explore.
I am a member of the Online Association of Female Film Critics.
