Christmas Bells Jingled: 🔔🔔

When Sloane (Emma Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey) meet by chance post a crappy Christmas Day, they agree that getting through the holidays would suck a lot less if they did it together.

Holidate

First up on the Netflix Christmas train Holidate – which was actually a great bridge into the holiday vibes – considering it was originally release on October 28th.

This movie is low on the Christmas feel because it actually takes place throughout the space of a year. Sloane and Jackson are each others dates on every calendar event from St Patrick’s Day to the 4th of July weekend.

It was funnier than I expected in an adult humour way with just the right drizzle of slapstick. Roberts and Bracey were a fun pairing and there was something so – unmagical about their situation that just felt very 2020.

Even though it’s marketed as a “Christmas Movie”, Holidate can 100% be watched year round which is why it’s so low on the Jingled Bells rating. If you’re looking for a movie to break up a long triad of saccharine sweet Christmas movies – whilst still being able to say it counts as a Christmas Movie, then this is the one for you.
