There are no words of introduction to my June Wrap-Up as I’m sure they will just spiral into excuses for how poorly I’ve done.

MOVIES

An alright movie list this month, though before I give you the chance to spot the obvious, I’ll just confess. I didn’t go to the cinema this month. I know I know, I’ve already typed up my resignation to the board of cinephiles – but I swear I can do better – just give me another shot!

12 Angry Men (Sky)
When Sparks Fly (Sky)
Love on the Sidelines (Sky)
Pride & Prejudice (DVD) [Rewatch]
Murder Mystery (Netflix)
Pearl in Paradise (Sky)
Snatch (Netflix)
The Karate Kid (Sky)

TELEVISION

A bit of an ecclectic one. I’m actually a lot behind on shows but have a healthy number recorded on my Sky box, just waiting for me to get some time to myself so I can press play.

Started
Black-ish – Season 5 (Sky)
Ackley Bridge – Season 3 (Channel 4)
Warrior
(Sky)

Finished
When They See Us
(Netflix)
Chernobyl (Sky)
Castle – Season 6 (Sky)
Years and Years (BBC One)
Moominvalley (Sky)

Ongoing
Gilmore Girls – Season 5

Paused
What/If
American Gods

My favourite of the month was… Years and Years. It was so bloody realistic, not to mention easy to watch. A well-carved show that shined a light on the potential direction of not only the UK but also global issues such as Pollution and Immigration. The multi-generational Lyons family acted as a great lens to view where our future may be heading. Interesting stories, diverse characters and overall fantastic progression. I laughed I cried I cheered.

Over on Letterboxd I write a few lines in review for every movie, not just the ones I see in cinema if you want to check those out.

BOOKS

Normally this is the part where I tell you I’m an avid reader – but I have seriously been slacking over the past few months. I don’t think I even had a theme this month; if I did then it was just READ.

Diamonds in the Rough by Michelle Madow
Diamonds are Forever by Michelle Madow
Murder on the Page by Kennedy Chase
The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory [current read]

My favourite novel of the month was… I suppose the Diamond trilogy as a whole? The books were far from fantastic; I didn’t like one of the principal characters and there were one or two obvious plot points – however, I like the plot and it was a good trip down memory lane. I don’t really read books about teenagers so much anymore – especially contemporary ones – so it was a little bite of nostalgia.

    1. Hahaha thank you I’m not sure I could leave if I wanted to! Oooooh okay I definitely suggest The Proposal – it’s the second book by the author the first one is The Wedding Date (I thoroughly enjoyed). The Harley Hill Mystery books are a solid quick read though. Let me know if you read any/your thoughts 😊
