Christmas Bells Jingled: 🔔 🔔 🔔 🔔

The Holiday Calendar: Feeling like her life is on hold and her dreams are a distant memory, Abby (Kat Graham) is gifted a little holiday joy. First her best friend Josh (Quincy Brown) is back from his travels, and secondly the Christmas Calendar Abby’s grandfather gives her. begins to predict that things are looking up for Abby’s future.

The Holiday Calendar - The Calendar

I actually watched this movie in November because I was more than ready for the holiday season to get kick started, and the movie thankfully did its job.

Although seeped in Christmas; the snow, the decorations… the calendar! This movie was more about friendship and being open to the new and changing opportunities around you, which I really enjoyed.

My favourite aspect of this movie was definitely the relationship between the two main characters; they were best friends and it was believable; the goofy faces they pulled at each other, the comfortable insults they threw, it was all akin to how I acted within my own friendship groups.

Despite the potentially magical element the movie had, it was also real, which meant it was relatable. The characters were refreshingly grow up in that they were open and honest about their feelings, whether they were angry or hurt of excited. This may be the holiday season but we all want something that brings a little of our own truths to the table, and that’s what The Holiday Calendar did.

Note: When Abby and Josh settled down to watch something on the television and their screen showed Netflix; I laughed out loud… and rolled my eyes. Nice cheeky bit of self promotion Netflix. Nice.
