Spoilers spoilers everywhere and not a drop to drink.
Even though I am focusing on the third series of the popular British show Humans – it will inevitably feature spoilers for the first two series.
If you don’t care then read on. If you do then you should probably turn away here. Or not. I’m not out here trying to live your life for you.
***Spoilers***
Thanks to Mattie uploading the consciousness code, green eyed Synths everywhere are awake. Thoughts, feelings and opinions – they have it all. Unfortunately the majority of the UK see the worlds greatest technological advancement as a danger to humanity.
Green eyed synths now live in fear of more than persecution – they live in fear of death. Laura Hawkins (Katherine Parkinson) is fighting to give these Synths a voice, but her shout for equality is lost in a raging storm of opposing views from the government.

I wasn’t planning on even reviewing this series but then I saw the direction it was taking, and with that I mean the persecution of the Synths.
I remember watching the first two episodes and thinking: Am I imagining this or are they trying to shine a light on racism and unjust inequality?
The action and reaction of events, held an eerily realistic feel as I watched story lines unfold and heard prosaic speeches that toed chillingly close to the line of reality.
There was a particularly finite scene with Karen (Ruth Bradley) sacrificing herself to protect her “son” Sam (Billy Jenkins) that left me stunned. It was so poignant, so well executed and if you watched that and didn’t feel a shred of sympathy then I have no words for you.
For a third series the show did well to provide an organic progression from its predecessors. The fact that it also managed to openly highlight racial prejudice through the visual representation of the green eyed Synths was refreshing in its truth and frightening in its accuracy.
Humans series 3 was surprising. It was clever and it was necessary and by the way sacrifice was used to invoke change, it has set the bar even higher for a potential forth series.
Side note: That whole eye switching thing was straight out of Blade Runner and even though I didn’t like the movie, I love that I can now make that reference and can see just how influential Blade Runner was to the Science Fiction genre.
