Riding off last months Top Five: That Still Get Me, I began to think about all those that hadn’t gotten me yet. The movies and series I knew I would enjoy… when I finally got around to ticking them off my never ending list.
This one’s for you. Unwatched but unforgotten.
Movies
So this list was incredibly hard to put together. In theory it should be filled with a tonne of classics. Sadly (depending on how you look at it) I am pretty on it with the classics and highly rated movies so this is pretty much a backlog of my Netflix watchlist… Sorry.

1. In Bruges (2008)
Here’s what I know: Colin Farrell plays a spy in Belgium who is on the run… I think. It’s a black comedy and I’ve generally heard solid things about it. Plus – Colin Farrell

2. Rent (2005)
I know nothing about this movie except for the fact it’s a musical (possibly) with a young Taye Diggs (Definitely). It’s progressive and my friend keeps telling me I neeeeeeeed to see it.

3. Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)
I can vaguely remember the hype surrounding this chubby little boy who goes into the woods. As you can tell I love going into movies partially blind.

4. What Happened to Monday (2017)
Kind of like Orphan Black…. but throw away the clone thing and throw in septuplets – I’ll let you choose which one is more believable. Anyways, in a world where families can only have one child, these seven sisters have to pretend to be one person – until one of them goes missing…. You’d think that would make their lives a seventh easier.

5. Gattaca (1997)
This movie came into my sphere very recently, and it so happens it’s from the same writer/director as Anon, Andrew Niccol. Ethan Hawke, Jude Law, genetic discrimination in a dystopian science fiction reality. Yup. I’m totally here for that.
Television
With the plethora of on demand, high quality streaming services out there – one can’t quite justify scouring the web for bootleg links that take an insufferable age to buffer. Yes some of the shows on this list are currently readily available, and I’ll get to them when I get to them. As for the others…. Well here’s hoping you drop somewhere accessible soon.

1. Friday Night Lights (2006-2011)
This College American Football based series has been recommended to me more times than I can remember. Funnily enough it always comes up after I mention that I’m a massive Aaron Sorkin fan.

2. The Soprano’s (1999-2007)
Shonda Rhimes (Creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal) referenced this show once and I immediately added it to my list. That’s it. She said something about a gangster who goes to therapy? What does it really matter – I blindly trust her judgement.

3. House of Cards (2013-Present)
Kevin Spacey’s personal life aside – the trailer for the first series really pulled me, sociopaths, power struggles and politics. Check, check and Check. So why with all of that being said haven’t I watched it yet?! Well – I hate watching shows surrounded by hype, it always feels like more of an event to me when shows are being watched and beloved by all. I’m selfish like that.

4. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006-2007)
Did you guys know I’m an Aaron Sorkin fan? (Molly’s Game) No? (Charlie Wilson’s War) It’s never come up? (Steve Jobs) Go figure. Well Studio 60 was written by Sorkin and stars The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford (Get Out) and the lesser known Matthew Perry (Friends). Semantics aside, I have no idea what the hell this show is about but I need to watch it.

5. The Walking Dead (2010- Present)
Zombies, zombies, zombies and those that destroy them to survive. Past me used to really be on it with the supernatural shows but somewhere along the line I’ve lost the spark. The Walking Dead will undoubtedly reignite that, and with so many shows already on the list…. it’s probably best it stays on the back burner.
This list makes up a teeny tiny percentage of all the movies and television shows that I still haven’t seen yet…. but vow to eventually get to. Honestly as much as I heart all the constant stream of new media – sometimes I wish the entire industry would hit a big fat pause button for a year and give me a chance to catch up!
