Christmas Bells Jingled: 🔔🔔🔔
Erica (Kat Graham), sent from Washington by her boss to shut down an army base, is met by Cpt. Andrew Jantz (Alexander Ludwig) who tries to make her see the wonder in their annual Christmas Drop.
The movie itself really isn’t great. I found Andrew’s character incredibly pushy and speaks to a lot of the rhetoric with the cheesy ‘Hallmark’ rom-coms… but that’s not why we’re hear today.
Operation Christmas Drop is actually based on a true story which adds to the wholesomeness and the good-tidings-to-all-ness of the holidays and the movie itself. Graham’s character walks in almost Grinch-like and Ludwig is the overly optimistic Labrador to soften her heart and focus on what truly matters.
I would have vibes’d with this one a lot more as a Christmas Movie if it wasn’t literally set on the beach. The sun, shades and sand took away from the holiday aesthetic for me. I need snow, puffer jackets and ice-skating while I snuggle down with a blanket and a hot drink.
Operation Christmas Drop, is one part romance, one part ‘the true meaning of Christmas’ and for that reason stands out on the roster of Netflix Christmas Movies.
