A Movie a day in the Month of May
Day 16 pick
I am a big fan of the DC Animated Universe (DCAU), it encompasses all the grit of the DC universe that the live action movies left out, and explores more characters in a shorter amount of time. These movies tend to be on average on 70minutes long so it also makes for a nice short movie if your stuck for time.
Batman: Hush is a stand out movie for me specifically as it draws in a lot of the villains from the Batverse, as well as exploring the relationship between Batman and Catwoman, as well as between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle.
It’s a turning point in the progression between these two characters where we tend to either see the pair as they meet, or after they’ve known each other for a very long time.
Past this aspect of the movie we went on a journey to find out who the seeminging unbeatable villain ‘Hush’ was. This, like I mentioned, meant that we saw more villains than ever feature in a single movie whilst having a formidable mystery for us to solve. This movie now ranks third on my list of the DCAU, after Killing Joke and Batman: Under the Red Hood.
As an additional sell; the DCAU shows a lot of Nightwing as well as Damien Wayne’s Robin, not to mention Red Hood – and outside of Batman’s Gotham the Justice League and each heroes subsequent story arcs. If you’re into the comic world then it’s not to be overlooked.
