A third of the way into the year and I think this month really helped up my Movie numbers. However, as per usual, I can only do well in one category at a time.

Smashed it. Even without my DC Animated Universe watches, I think I did pretty darn well across the board with movies this month. The bank holiday weekend definitely helped.

TELEVISION

With all those movies I was watching, I don’t know where you expected me to find the time to also binge watch a tonne of new shows. You brought any kind of disappoint you feel on yourself.

Started
The Chilling Adventures of Sabria (Season 2) – Netflix
Game of Thrones (Season 8) – Sky One
Trust Me (Season 2) – BBC One

Finished
Curfew
– Sky One
Barbies Dreamhouse Adventures – Netflix

Ongoing
The Flash (Season 5) – Sky
Grey’s Anatomy (Season 15) – Sky
Castle (Season 6) – Sky
Ingobernable (Season 1) – Netflix

Paused
Gilmore Girls (Season 3) – Netflix (Don’t say a word)
American Gods (Season 1) – Amazon Video

My favourite of the month was, unsurprisingly Avengers: Endgame, and it wasn’t even the most highly rated movie I’d watched this month. It was the end of an error and though I had a few personal issues with the movie, it birthed an entire franchise spanning a decade and the ending encompassed so much of that journey both for the characters and the audience who invested their time, money and emotions into it all. Ending are always difficult but they did a fantastic job – well freaking done.
….
Though shout out to Curfew, which was one hell of an intriguing show, both in its own right and as far as British Television standards go!

Over on Letterboxd I write a few lines in review for every movie, not just the ones I see in cinema if you want to check those out.

BOOKS

Least you forget I happen to also be an avid reader, and this month I was focused on finishing books I’d previously started. These aren’t books that I chose to DNF, but books I read the first chapter of and decided I wasn’t in the mood at that time to continue. It’s a bit of an eclectic list.

Romanov by Nadie Brandes
Murder on the Hill by Kennedy Chase
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

My favourite novel of the month was…Murder on the Hill by Kennedy Chase. Yeah, yeah don’t come for me for not picking the more obvious choice. I thought Murder on the Hill was a fun, quick little novel, and I enjoyed just how easy it was to read. The main character was cool and, the mystery was intriguing. Sometimes that’s all I want you know?
