Synopsis: England has been infected. Safety means a government implemented curfew and no escape. That is unless you’re crazy or smart enough to take part in the race.
Cast: Sean Bean, Adrian Lester, Rose Williams, Miranda Richardson, Malachi Kirby
Episodes: Eight
There is no escaping the Mooks – former humans to far gone with no hope of coming back. With one bite, you’ll be turned into the dark dwelling monsters that terrorise the country.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. One chance of escape. To get away to a private island safe from the nightwalkers – but that involves winning The Race. A yearly competition where you race against other desperate humans, who will do anything to win. To escape and leave their curfewed lives behind.

You will be incredibly shocked to hear that Curfew didn’t involve a single police officer or have a mysterious murder that needed to be solved. I know right – it’s almost sacrilegious, and for that, I liked it all the more.
All in all, the series did a fantastic job of keeping things interesting, with seven out of eight of the episodes involving driving at night, it could have failed miserably. However, by changing up which characters we focused on, and also giving us a taste of what events led to them being involved in the race, we never wanted for drama, action and explosive twists.
Due to the number of characters and storyline, the show featured both well known British actors and actresses (Sean Bean, Adrian Lester, Andi Osho, Miranda Richardson) as well as bringing to light some new/lesser-known ones (Ike Bennett, Jessye Romeo, Thaddea Graham). But it didn’t stop there as American actors like Billy Zane and Adam Brody were also pivotal parts of the series. The amalgamation of characters added to the craziness and the fun of the story where anything goes and no one is safe.

There was nothing in this series that I didn’t enjoy. I actually thought there were only six episodes, and was annoyed to discover it was eight, thinking that the last two episodes would be a waste – but the intensity stayed high, with unexpected reveals and some bloody scenes, to the point where I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see who would be the first to cross the finish line.
Personally, I hope there is a second series, and it’s not that hard to imagine as Curfew is set up well enough for the series to just keep going. One really does have to commend Sky One for their continued commission of original UK Drama.
