Christmas Bells Jingled: 🔔 🔔 🔔
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale: The Solstice is nigh and for Witches the shortest day of the year is a time for celebration. It’s also when the veil between the living and the spirit world is thinnest and Sabrina takes advantage of the season to perform a seance. However whilst our ghost stories are merely fiction, for the Spellman’s it’s one of fact, so when the Yule Log goes out – mind the demons don’t bite.

Even thought this counts as a Christmas Special, it’s probably best that you watch the first ten parts of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, before you jump into this Yuletide edition.
A Midwinter’s Tale picks up right where the main series ended in October with the Spellman’s celebrating the Solstice and what I enjoyed most about this episode was getting to learn a different tradition.
Keeping the Yule Log lit to keep away evil spirits, and the origins of how customs were started. It made me think about what stories other cultures have about this time of the year, what their practices are, and how it’s imbued with the westernised celebrations of the season.
Even though I suggested it was best to watch the series first before this special, I will say that it was somehow nicely self-contained even though inevitable references to episodes gone by were made. The episode didn’t do the most, and a portion of the main characters weren’t featured allowing the focus to be on Christmas/Solstice.
Ultimately A Midwinter’s Tale was a creepy and dark but fun holiday episode to change it up from Holiday Calendars and Christmas Princes.
The second series of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will air on Netflix in April 2019.
