My favourite for the month was… The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (go figure). It was one of the most unique things I’ve watched in a very long time. I loved the characters and the culture the show was seeped in. Plus, I do love me some Amy Sherman-Palladino humor. Also shout out to Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Six movies in and Tom Cruise is still giving it everything he has, you really have to respect that.
Over on Letterboxd I write a few lines in review for every movie, not just the ones I see in cinema if you want to check those out.
Least you forget I happen to also be an avid reader, and this month I was focused on Biographies.
Slay in Your Lane: The Black Girl Bible by Elizabeth Uviebinené and Yomi Adegoke
I Can’t Make This Up by Kevin Hart
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelo
We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union
One Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
My favourite novel for the month was a toss between two but I Can’t Make This Up by Kevin Hart just cinched it (Sorry Gabrielle). Mostly for me it’s because I didn’t realise how hard Kevin worked to get to this point in his career – in all honesty I never gave it a second thought – his tenacity and his positivity were both infectious and inspiring.
Check out my Goodreads for reviews and such.
Roll on August.
